Kashmir’s top pro-freedom leader and chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has extended greetings to the Muslims in Kashmir and around the world on Eidul Fitr.

Syed Ali Geelani in his message said, “Eid is the day of expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah and seeking His blessings.” He urged people to remember the destitute section of the society on the auspicious occasion. “We should not forget the families, orphans and widows of those people who have sacrificed their precious lives for the better future of their brethren. We have to be extremely kind to the families who had miserably suffered during the ongoing freedom struggle of Kashmir,” Syed Ali Gilani said.

He added that the Kashmiri people have so far missed the real spirit of the Eid day because of the atrocities and the cruel behavior of the Indian occupational forces towards the common people in the territory.

Referring to the horrendous situation in the occupied territory, the APHC Chairman said, “We are facing extreme situation. It is very unfortunate that we are carrying and receiving the coffins of our youngsters. Our dignity and honour are at stake and situation in Kashmir has only multiplied our sorrows and it is quite heart wrenching to see the increasing number of widows and orphans.”

The United Jihad Council in a statement impressed upon the affluent people to come forward and help the needy and poor so that they can also be part of Eid celebrations. “There are thousands of poor, destitute, orphans, widows, families with disappeared kith and kin. Such people don’t have any mode of income. We must help them and bring smile on their faces,” the statement said while quoting the UJC Chief, Syed Salahuddin.
