Delhi court grants bail to Kashmiri photojournalist Kamran Yousuf

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

A Delhi court has granted bail to Kashmiri photojournalist Kamran Yousuf, who was detained by India’s National Investigation agency (NIA) in a fake case registered against him in Kashmir.

Additional Sessions Judge Tarun Sherawat allowed the bail plea of Yousuf, asking him to furnish two sureties of Rs 50,000.

The NIA on September 5 arrested Kamran Yousuf in South Kashmir when he was performing his professional duty during anti-India protests.

Opposing the bail plea, the NIA had stated that some witnesses allegedly had confirmed that Kamran was shouting anti-India slogans and was seen pelting stones on Indian forces.

Defence counsel, Warisha Farasat, said that Kamran Yousuf was innocent.
